What we're all about

1
Play-Based Learning
Why play-based learning? Here at sunbeam we believe that interactive and engaging lessons are the most direct way to student outcomes and content retention. Learning should be fun and kids should have space to let their imagination and creativity shine! Even in virtual sessions students will engage all of their senses through the use of movement, listening, tactile activities, visual presentation, and more. You are sure to see smiles and hear some giggles as we learn to read!
2
Structured Literacy
Structured literacy is a term used for the multi-faceted, research-based approach to reading utilized in systems such as Orton-Gillingham. It is phonics-based, systematic, highly-structured, and multi-sensory. The best part is-it works! Learning to read is not a natural process and teaching in this method builds foundational skills required for fluent and comprehending readers.

Creative Options
If there were ever a time to think creatively about education, the time is now! We believe in transforming educational opportunities in order to promote literacy for all learners. Every child learns differently and has their own unique intelligence and skills. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to learning to read.
Meet The Teacher
Hi! I'm Claire, an experienced teacher who is passionate about student growth and fostering a love of learning. I have spent the last 6 years teaching in Aurora, Denver, and abroad in Northern Thailand. After years in the classroom I have decided to create a model where I can have a sustained impact in students lives outside of the traditional classroom setting. I have seen a need for alternative and creative options for kids and families and am excited to see how Sunbeam can lead us to new ideas and achievements in education. I am eager to explore how personalized tutoring can help accelerate your child's learning and help them reach their goals! Interested in hearing more?
